Ajith Viswasam beats SuperStar's Petta

Chennai, January 13: We all knew that, So many big releases tested their luck at the box office in this sankranthi festival. NTR Kathanayakudu , Vinaya Vidheya Rama , Petta and F2 are currently in the theatres.

According to the latest update, In Kollywood Petta movie is facing huge competition from Thala Ajith starrer Viswasam movie. Which is going to emerge as a winner between these two has become a hot topic among the Tamil audience.

It is known that, Both the movies got an equally positive response from the mass audience. With the classy touch, Petta became a stylish entertainer. On the other hand, Ajith d movie is a complete mass entertainer. But the normal audience who doesn t like action is not impressed with both the films. In terms of collections, both are doing exceptionally well at the box office.

But, sadly for Rajinikanth, it is unable to brave the storm of Thala Ajith s Viswasam. Petta opened alongside Viswasam this January 10 and while it is leading the worldwide box office by a small margin, it s lagging behind the Ajith starrer at Tamil Nadu box office by a similar margin. Nevertheless, both Petta and Viswasam are a big success and such is that gravity of their success that, according to trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai, "#Petta & #Viswasam push out Tamil films which were due for January 25 Release. Theatres are going to give it a “free run” till February 1. There will be an avalanche of films in February before exam season starts."

But, with Viswasam beating Petta at Tamil Nadu box office, Ajith has created history. He has become the only actor in the last 27 years to beat Rajinikanth at Tamil Nadu box office. The last time a Rajinikanth movie opened at the second position at the box office was in 1992 when his Pandian clashed with Kamal Haasan s cult classic, Thevar Magan. At that time, the Kamal Haasan starrer had topped the box office beating the Rajinikanth starrer.

We can say that the collections will be very high until the holiday season comes to an end. After that, we have to see which movie is going to emerge as a winner. As of now, based on the ratings and word-of-mouth Petta is going to is much likely to become the winner.
