KGF inching towards 200 crores

Chennai, January 07: We all knew that, Kannada film KGF, which released on December 21, amid heavy competition, has emerged victorious in all languages. The intense gangster-drama has Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Achyuth Kumar and Malavika Avinash in prominent roles.

The movie, which is said to be made on a mammoth budget of Rs 80 crore, has successfully completed its third week in theatres and is looking forward to an eventful fourth week. As of now, KGF has grossed Rs 198.5 crore with a net share of Rs 160.5 crore.

This could be the last week for KGF in theatres as there are a handful of films set for a grand release ahead of Pongal/Sankranti.

Super Star Rajinikanth s Petta, Ajith s Viswasam, Balakrishna s NTR Kathanayakudu and Ram Charan s Vinaya Vidheya Rama are some of the big budjet films that are releasing for Sankranti (Pongal in Tamil Nadu).

KGF faced stiff competition in Tamil Nadu as it released alongside five Tamil movies in December. There was a huge battle for signing the theatres, but with Vishal s help (who distributed KGF in TN), the movie was given enough screens. In Chennai, the film has minted Rs 61 lakhs at the end of 17 days.

The Yash-starrer has performed exceptionally well in the Telugu-speaking states as well. According to trade reports, the film has earned Rs 20 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
