Telangana Elections Turn Costliest

Hyderabad, December 08: Here is the latest news that, The Telangana elections concluded on December 7 with nearly 67 percent voters churning out as announced by the Elections Commission. But whats mid boggling is the fact that Telangana elections unlike Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh turning out be the costliest ever. Wondering how? Nearly Rs 137 crore cash seized till date makes it the costliest one. “Apart from cash, over 10 lakh liters of liquor was seized across the state over the last one month, besides unaccounted gold and silver ornaments and other material apparently meant for luring voters,” says Telangana chief electoral officer Rajath Kumar.

“There have been reports that money is being sent to voters even using delivery boys working for various courier companies and food suppliers,” the EC official stressed. However, in the ongoing elections Rs 20 crore in Chhattisgarh, Rs 35 crore from Rajasthan and Rs 29 crore in Madhya Pradesh has been seized.
