Devotees woes at Durga temple continues

Vijayawada, October 17: Devotees are still facing problems at Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple even after the Dasara festivities were concluded. The pilgrims keep their luggage in cloak rooms, deposit their mobiles at the counter and keep their sandals at the stand before going for Goddess darshan. They have to walk down seven floors of Maha Mandapam to get prasadam. Again they have to trek the hill to get their belongings back. The pilgrims complained that there was not even one toilet either at the ghat road or near the queue lines. Nobody is bothering about the facilities for the common devotees even as the vehicles of police, endowment officials and political leaders were directly going to the main temple. Without fixed rates, the traders were looting the pilgrims at every step, right from keeping shoes and luggage. The CCTV cameras fixed in the temple were only for namesake. The temple sources said it was not clear in the cctv footage when an excise constable manhandled a priest inside the temple during the Dasara festival. Thieves stole cellphone of a priest at the temple veda asirvachana mandapam. Such is the status of affairs in the hill temple which has grown in importance since the capital city of AP is coming up close by.
