Voting for the local body elections took place in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. People were seen queuing up at a polling station in Vijayawada to exercise their franchise. Elections are being held for 2,214 wards in 12 Municipal Corporations and 71 Municipalities. Nagar Panchayats notification was issued for 2,123 wards. As many as 56,49,678 voters are eligible to exercise their voting rights in the municipal elections. Counting of votes will be held on March 14. Authorities have been directed to follow all Covid-19 protocols.
