Is TRS party following the Congress Culture?

Despite lot of cover-up and counselling over the last few months by all the top leaders in ruling Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS), the groupism within the party and their violent sides were very much evident at a review meeting. None could bring peace between the groups and they were agitated so much that even the presence of Home Minister did not bother them. Until yesterday, this public display of groupism within the party as well as clashes in public was being named as 'Congress Culture'.

With greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections followed by Warangal and Khammam urban local body elections as well as MLC elections lined up, the groups within the party want fair representation of their leaders in ticket distribution as well as at the meetings.

With news of probable candidates for different elections being talked about the emotions that they have denied the opportunity is also on the higher side. Just a small triggering factor is enough for the cadre to start the fights. In fact this was what had happened in yesterday meeting in Hyderabad.

Two groups of TRS clashed in the presence of Mohammed Mahmood Ali at Ramkote during a party meeting called to review the upcoming GHMC and MLC elections. Arguments started between two groups when some activists questioned as to why a senior leader, RV Mahender, was not called onto the stage.

His objections were overruled by another group and after heated arguments, the two groups pushed each other right in front of the Home Minister. Mahmood Ali could just watch them clash and do nothing to stop them even as other leaders tried to pacify the groups. The meeting resumed later. However, the groups clashed again after the Home Minister left the venue.

This incident leaves behind a bad remark on TRS, since its working president KT Rama Rao had been making comments on Congress and other parties for their internal clashes, now their party is also following the same culture. It is time for the top leadership to take local leaders into confidence and make moves for the elections!
