RTC services between the AP and Telangana may resume shortly

It has been more than 5 months since the RTC buses ran between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The services have been stopped in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic from March as a part of the imposition of the lockdown across the country.

Now, it seems the RTC services between the AP and Telangana may resume shortly. State transport principal secretary and AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) managing director M T Krishna Babu wrote a letter to the Telangana government to resume all bus services at the earliest.

Earlier, APSRTC used to run buses in bigger numbers compared to Telangana RTC due to their higher demand. But, now Krishna Babu offered to allow an equal number of buses into Andhra Pradesh so that there would be a level-playing field between the two states.

Of course, the negotiations were held twice where the APSRTC agreed to reduce the number of services to the extent of 56,000 kilometers but asked the Telangana Government to increase the services in the same way considering the high demand and yet there is no response from the TSRTC. But now, the Telangana RTC management insisted that APSRTC should reduce the number of services to the extent of 1.12 lakh kilometers.

Apparently, Telangana CM KCR responded to Krishna Babu's letter positively and has given a green signal to the proposal made by APSRTC management. So, if everything works out well between these two states, we may expect a resumption in the RTC services very soon.
