UP:Sanjay Dutt summoned by local court for jaadu ki jhappi

Actor Sanjay Dutt has been summoned by a local court in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district over his alleged ‘jaadu ki jhappi’ remarks on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati during the campaigns for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

During campaigning for the Samajwadi Party candidate in Tikait Nagar in April 2009, the ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ actor allegedly said that he would like to give one ‘jaadu ki jhappi’ to BSP chief Mayawati. ‘Jaadu ki jhappi’ is catchphrase which became famous after his film Munnabhai MBBS.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjay Yadav directed Sanjay Dutt to appear before the court on November 16. The local court has also asked the Mumbai police commissioner to serve the summon to the actor, prosecution officer Ramesh Chand Kannaujia said.
