Sonia Gandhi hailed DMK president Karunanidhi

Chennai June 04: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister & DMK Supremo Karunanidhi have a great history. He seems to be the 'Oldest' among those leaders who served as CMs, PMs, Union Ministers, Governors and President of Political Party.

Not a surprise, AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi hailed Karunanidhi ahead of his 94th Birthday. She opened Karunanidhi's political career dominated the better part of 20th century and 17 years of 21st century.

"Since 1969, Karunanidhi has been one of the Two Poles that defined Tamil Nadu Politics. He has been continuing as the President of DMK since the past 48 Years. Never been before a Politician has served as President of any Political Party in a democratic country for such long duration. Karunanidhi devoted his life to Tamil Nadu though he received opportunities to play a role at Centre," she opined.

Sonia recalled DMK extending support to Congress party in 1971, 1980, 2004 and 2009. She enquired about the former CM's health condition and wished him much longer life.

Karunanidhi is multi-faceted. He is a Journalist, Novelist, Poet, Script Writer, Actor, Producer, Educationalist, Politician.
