Four held for ripening Mango fruits artificially

Hyderabad, April 15: The South Zone Task force Police have conducted an unexpected Raid on fruit shops and godowns located in Moghulpura, Bhavani Nagar, Falaknuma and Hussainia lam areas on Friday.

Police have arrested 4 persons, who are trying to ripen the mango fruits artificially by using illegal chemicals.

While coming to details, Four fruit sellers, Abdul Raheem (28) of Yakutpura; Akheel Babu (48) of Bibi Bazar X Road; and Md Akbar (22) and Shaik Jabbar (27) Farooqnagar in Falaknuma were held for ripening the mango fruits illegally.

"The accused were artificially ripening the mangoes using Calcium Carbide, China chemical powder and other unknown chemicals to cash in on the high demand for mangoes in the market knowing very well that it's banned," Task Force inspector K Madhu Mohan Reddy said.

Police seized Calcium Carbide, Ethylene powder and other chemicals in huge quantity from the possession of the accused. Task Force police later handed over all the four accused along with the seized chemicals to law and order police stations for further investigation.
