A youngster spent 10 hours on a Tree to save himself

Guntur, September 23: A youth spent 10 hours on a palm tree to save himself from getting washed away in flood water, in Gangannapalem village, Chilakaluripet mandal of Guntur district. The Kuppaganji vagu in the village was overflowing.

Venkatesh, along with his brother's daughter Vanaja and wife Subbulu tried to reach the road. But they got washed away in flood water. Venkatesh got hold of a palm tree one kilometer away from the bridge in the morning and hooked on to the tree for more than 10 hours.

Nobody dared to rescue him since the rivulet was flowing dangerously. His relative Polaiah tried to save Venkatesh but got washed away in the rivulet.

NDRF team tried to save him by helicopter but failed. At last the locals succeeded in rescuing Venkatesh.
