Adidas launches first urban football centre in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 5: In a bid to promote the sport at the grassroots level, sportswear manufacturer adidas has announced the launch of its first ever urban football destination -- the Base, Plaza -- in Chhattarpur here.Star Indian players Rohit Sharma, K.L. Rahul and former Nigerian FIFA World Cup player Rabiu Afolabi on Saturday inaugurated the Base , which was designed to enhance the playing experience.Commenting on the launch, Football director, adidas India Hrishikesh Shende said: "Football in India is growing rapidly with many young players aspiring to turn professional.""We are extremely delighted to provide a world-class facility for the next generation of footballers. The BASE in Delhi will become a focal point of grassroots football and we are looking to take the concept to other metros this year," he added.
