Born baby sold for Rs. 40,000; neighbour arrested

Hyderabad, Oct 29: A 30-year-old housemaid was duped by her neighbor who sold her newborn baby citing health issues at Uppal here on Saturday. The mother, a housemaid from Macha Bolarum, was married 10 years ago and the couple was blessed with two sons and one daughter. "Around one year back, her husband left her when she was pregnant. She told her neighbor the difficulty in bringing up another child with a meager income," said K. Narsing Rao, inspector of Uppal. "Her neighbor told her sister about this issue who then assured the woman help during delivery. Shortly after the delivery, she was informed that her son was born with an ailment. The accused sold the baby boy for Rs. 40,000," added Mr. Rao. A case under the Juvenile Justice Act was booked and the Uppal police arrested the seller and the buyer on Saturday and handed over the child to its mother.
