Man arrested for allegedly using commercial power

Hyderabad March 11: A businessman has been arrested by the city police for allegedly using a commercial power connection for industrial purpose and tampering with the meter.

On a tip-off, officials of the Detection of Pilferage of Energy, Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, North circle, raided the factory of businessman M. Devender at Balanagar and found the electricity meter tampered with.

Earlier, he was caught on a similar charge. In that case, he has imposed a fine of 12,000 since that was the first offense.

"As this offense was the second one, a criminal case was booked and he was arrested," Vigilance and Anti-Power Theft Squad Inspector A. Chandrashekhar said.

The accused was presented before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
