Panic disorder: symptoms, overcome

Hyderabad, February 26: panic disorder is different from the normal fear and anxiety reactions to stressful events. Panic disorder is a serious condition that strikes without reason or warning. A panic attack is the abrupt onset of intense fear or discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes and includes at least four of the following symptoms:
1.Sweating
2.Trembling or shaking
3.Sensations of shortness of breath or smothering
4.Feelings of choking
5.Chest pain or discomfort
6.Nausea or abdominal distress
7.Feeling dizzy, unsteady, light-headed, or faint
8.Chills or heat sensations
9.Paresthesia (numbness or tingling sensations)

11.Fear of losing control or “going crazy”
12.Fear of dying
13.Palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate

During a panic attack, the fear response is out of proportion for the situation, which often is not threatening. Over time, a person with panic disorder develops a constant fear of having another panic attack, which can affect daily functioning and general quality of life.





Many people suffering from panic attacks don't know they have a real and highly treatable disorder.Panic disorder often occurs along with other serious conditions, such as depression, alcoholism, or drug abuse.
