Tips to follow before online payment

Hyderabad, February 24: Modern lifestyle, Everything done by online, if anyone wants to buy something, most of them choose online payments for shoppings, because of its time effective. For online transaction, we should be aware from fraudsters.

Here are some tips to follow before online payments:

1.secure your personal and account information with up to date anti-virus software and that you download operating system updates for your computer. This will help to protect your online transactions.

2.Keep your Username and Password to yourself; this prevents unauthorized access and use by other people.

3.Get in the habit of logging off when you've finished your banking. Look for the Log Out tab on the top right of the menu bar.

4.Avoid any Internet Banking from unsecured WiFi, such as unknown, temporary or pop-up WiFi hotspots, or any unknown open (unauthenticated) WiFi.

5. Fraudsters can lure you to enter your user ID and password at a fake website that resembles your bank.
Always check the URL of your bank's website. If you see anything other than the bank's genuine URL, you know it is a fake.
Never enter your user ID or password or such sensitive information without ascertaining that you are on the right website.

6. Keep changing your password at least once a month. And remember it!

7. Avoid easy-to-guess passwords, like first names, birthdays and telephone numbers. Try to have an alphanumeric password that combines alphabets and numbers.

8.Never exit simply by closing the browser.

9. Install a personal firewall to help prevent hackers from gaining unauthorized access to your home computer, especially if you connect to the Internet through a cable or a DSL modem.

10. Don't use the embedded links in any e-mail to get to any web page. Type the link address (URL) in your web browser.

11. Don't fill out forms in e-mail messages that ask for personal financial information, like account or credit card numbers.

12.No bank's representative will ever ask for your user ID/ credit or debit card number/ password in any form. If they do, change the bank!

13. If you have several bank accounts, avoid using the same online banking password for all.

14. Avoid accessing the Internet banking channel at cyber cafes, which are prone to attacks by hackers. Also avoid locations that offer online connections through wireless networks (Wi-Fi), where privacy and security are minimal.
