Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to leaders of 10 key Opposition parties?

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday wrote a letter to leaders of 10 key Opposition parties including AICC president Sonia Gandhi and TRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, asking them to join hands for a united fight against the BJP after the conclusion of the ongoing Assembly elections in five States.

In her three page letter, Mamata Banerjee stated that it was time for all the Opposition parties to come together to repel the BJP's attack on democracy and the Constitution. She cited the recent law enacted by the BJP government at the Centre which gave the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi more powers than the local government. She emphasised the need to give the people of the country a credible alternative. She raised seven major points, explaining how the BJP has attacked democracy and constitutional federalism.

The President of Trinamool Congress also accused the BJP of trying to establish a 'one-party authoritarian rule' in India, calling for a plan of action to be formulated against it. She opined that the Centre-State relations, and those between the ruling party at the Centre and the Opposition parties, have never been this bad in the country's history.
