Srisailam fire accident – 9 trapped

A huge fire broke out in the Srisailam Hydel project during the early hours of Friday. The fire is said to be a result of a short circuit in the project.


Nearly 30 members were in the project during the time of this accident, and 21 of them had escaped via the escape tunnels. The other 9 members of the staff wgot stuck in the project, and are being rescued currently.

Telangana minister Jagadish Reddy and TS Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao reached the spot and are overseeing rescue efforts.

The mishap occurred in the first unit of the power station and four panels were damaged. The Srisailam dam is located across the Krishna river which serves as the border between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
