Arun Jaitley cremated with state honours

Former Finance minister and BJP leader Arun Jaitley with full state honours got cremated today, August 25. The last rites were performed by his son Rohan at the Nigambodh Ghat.

The cremation was attended by Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javdekar, Smriti Irani, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Veteran leader L.K. Advani and other party leaders including B.S. Yediyurappa, Gautam Gambhir, along with opposition leaders Sharad Pawar.

Arun Jaitley has passed away on August 24, at the AIIMS. The veteran politician aged 66. The BJP government is in deep shock over Jaitley's demise as it has come close in the heels of the death of Sushma Swaraj. The AIIMS doctors issued a statement on Jaitley's death which reads, "It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon'ble Member of Parliament and former Finance Minister Government of India at 12:07 pm on August 24, 2019. Arun Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi on 09/08/2019 and was treated by a multidisciplinary team of senior Doctors."
