Former CM Anjaya Wife Manemma Passes away

Hyderabad: Former MP and Senior Congress leader Manemma passed away at a private hospital while undergoing treatment here om Sunday.

Former Chief Minister Tanguturi Anjaya's wife Manemma (74) has died today. She had been ill for some time and died on Sunday after being treated at Apollo Hospital.

Manemma was born on 29 April 1942 in Hyderabad to K. Shankar Reddy and completed her matriculation from Marwadi Hindi Vidyalaya, Chadar Ghat.

As the official candidate of the Indian National Congress (INC), Manemma received 1,82,861 votes and won the bye-election conducted after the death of her husband in 1986.[2] She represented Secunderabad in the 8th Lok Sabha and served on the Consultative Committee for Health and Family Welfare beside being a member of the House Committee.

During the Indian general election, 1989, Manemma retained her seat defeating Janata Dal's candidate by a margin of 1,47,601 votes.During her second term in the parliament she served on the Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House alongside the Consultative Committee for Health and Family Welfare. In 2008, she won the by-poll for the Musheerabad assembly seat.

Later in the 2009 assembly elections, She also won the elections against BJP candidate Dr Laxman again.

On the other hand, many celebrities were mourning for the death of Manemma.
