Heavy Rains lashed out Coastal Andhra, CM instructs officials

Vijayawada, Aug 20: Krishna and West Godavari districts bore the brunt of heavy rains. Roads are submerged in Mylavaram, Tiruvuru and Nandugama.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed the authorities to be alert and maintain vigilant across Coastal districts in view of heavy rains predicted by Indian Meteorological Department in the next 24 hours.

The chief minister asked the officials to follow the alerts from Disaster Management authorities and Real Time Governance System from time to time. The officials were instructed to repair the dilapidated bridges and if necessary, construction the new one in the place of old. People dwelling in low lying areas will be shifted to safe places in the rain hit areas.

In the wake of increasing cases of snake bites in the flood hit villages, Chandrababu directed officials to create awareness on snake threat and also provide better treatment to the victims of Avanigadda.

Measures are also taken to check the outbreak of communicable diseases in Krishna, East and West Godavari districts which received bountiful rains this monsoon.

Transpiration was cut off between Tiruvuru - Visannapeta as the roads network was washed away in the gushing waters.

Standing crops were damaged in Nandigama and rivulets are brimming with flood waters in Ungatur mandal.
