YSCRP MLA deposits money into DRDA staff account

Vijayawada, Aug 17: YSR Congress party MLA from Chandragiri constituency Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy’s over-enthusiasm to attract women voters ahaed of upcoming assembly elections.

He has reportedly depositing Rs. 2,000 each into the bank accounts of 175 Velugu Sanghamitras (Village Office Assistants) has created a flutter in Chittoor district. Though the reports have been appearing in local dailies since two days, the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) is tightlipped on the matter.

When they enquired with their bank authorities, they came to know that the money was transferred from the account of Chevireddy Lakshmi, wife of MLA Bhaskar Reddy.

The issue had gone to the notice of the higher authorities, who started making inquiries into the same.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the money was first transferred into Lakshmi's account from Chevireddy's account and from there into the accounts of the Velugu members.

The Telugu Desam leaders took serious objection to the move. With only a few months left for the elections, Mr. Reddy had resorted to money power politics, they said.
