Drug-Sniffing Dog part of Mafia Hit List

New Delhi, July 31: Meet Sombra, a very good drug-sniffing dog. Sombra, which means "shadow" in English, has assisted in the arrests of at least 245 people, and the seizure of over 9 tons of cocaine.

The 6-year-old german shepherd is so good, that she has now been targeted by the mob. According to Colombia's anti-narcotics police, the Urabenos mafia has put a bounty of 200 million pesos or $70,000 U.S. dollars on Sombra's head.

Officials have taken precautions to protect Sombra by relocating her and her handler, and they are now accompanied by other officers.

The extra security will remain until Sombra retires, leaving behind an illustrious crime-fighting canine career. The dog had to be moved to Bogota's El Dorado International Airport over fears of her safety.
