Hyderabad: RTC bus thrashed bike,Man killed

Hyderabad, July 30: In a tragic incident, A 37-year-old man died after a speeding RTC bus struck his motorbike down as he attempting to take a U-turn near the KPHB bus-stop here on Monday.

According to Ch Kushalkar, Inspector, KPHB, the man, Shankar Nath, was about to take a U-turn when the bus hit his bike and left him with fatal injuries.

Even as the police took the bus driver into custody and are examining CCTV footage from the area to know what exactly happened, people in the locality have alleged that Shankar Nath was driving in an inebriated condition after having toddy from an illegal toddy shop operating in the same area. A mob, reportedly including Shankar Nath’s relatives, set fire to the hut as well.

The police arrested two persons who were allegedly selling from toddy illegally from the hut. However, police said they were yet to verify whether the accident and the hut being set on fire were connected.

"We are examining CCTV footage of that incident as well," they said.

The body of Shankar Nath meanwhile, was shifted to hospital for autopsy. Cases have been registered in connection with both incidents and investigation is on.
