OMG! Doctor gets cheated worth Rs.2 Crores

Hyderabad, July 29: In a shocking incident, A website developer from Surat in Gujarat was arrested by the police for allegedly cheating a city-based doctor to the tune of Rs. 2 crore with the lure of Forex trading.

The accused, Aamir Arif Aghadi alais Ali Shaik (23), was apprehended by the White Collar Offences Team of Hyderabad Central Crime Station in Surat on Wednesday and brought to the city on transit warrant, said CCS Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police G Jogaiah.

In May, a dentist P. Dinesh of Tirumalgerry approached the police stating that he was cheated by the accused persons to the tune of Rs. 2 crore. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, a case was registered against Arif Aghadi.

Explaining the modus operandi, Mr Jogaiah said that the accused along with other culprits lured the gullible people by assuring huge profits for their investment in Forex trading.

"They asked their clients to pay the money through cash by unauthorised means like Hawala or Anghadia to avoid legal and income tax issues. Initially, the accused returned some amount as profit to make the clients believe that they are getting huge profits of 25% per week," the Addl. DCP said.

Further, when the clients started investing more money, they would cheat them and avoid taking their phone calls.
