Ghaziabad, July 22: In another ghastly incident in Uttar Pradesh, At least one person has been killed and nine others injured after a five-story building collapsed in Ghaziabad's Missal Gadi area. The building was under construction.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, present at the spot, is trying to clear the debris fast to rescue several others who are still feared trapped inside. The rain, waterlogging and cramped streets are causing some hindrances in the process.
The building collapsed around 3 pm on Sunday. The locals and UP Police,who were the first responders rescued at least four laborers immediately, while NDRF team rescued the rest. The rescued include two children and two women. The injured people have been sent to a nearby hospital.
Noida Police DG Sanjay Kumar informed India TV that the rescue operation was being undertaken at a fast pace. "Our team is trying to rescue everyone as quickly as possible," Kumar said.
According to the initial reports, the building was under construction and was located in a dense locality. The laborers were working when the incident took places, eyewitnesses said. The owner of the building has been identified as Prasanjeet.
