Colombo, July 22: South African batsmen Hashim Amla scored 9000 test runs to join Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith as the third South African to have reached the milestone.

From this perspective, In the second match between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Saturday, Amla scored only 19 runs but those were enough for him to take his Test runs toll to 9000.

Amla took 204 innings in 119 matches with an average of 47.45 to cross the 9000-run mark.

The match also saw 28-year-old spinner Keshav Maharaj making a record of 9 wickets by 129 runs for South Africa. This is one of the best seasons for South Africa since 1991 but the tour of Sri Lanka isn't proving to be an easy one.

Maharaj claimed the best Test innings figures by SA bowler with 9/129 from 41.1 overs.
