Hyderabad elected as Open Defecation-Free city

 


Hyderabad, July 18: Hyderabad: According to the latest information, Hyderabad on Tuesday, was recertified as Open Defecation-Free city after December 27. 


The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had carried out all-inclusive field inspections, which is a normal conduct, 6 months prior to recertification.



At present, 329 public toilets of various categories like build-operate-transfer (BOT), instant, Sulabh complexes and 34 She toilets (e-toilets) are available for use across the GHMC. 


In addition, the GHMC has constructed 2,135 individual household restrooms (IHHL) in slums for households that cannot spare to construct their own toilets. Also, community and mobile toilets are made available where the location is an impulsion.


The GHMC has recently introduced an updated public toilet called Loo-Cafe at Hitec City, with smart technology and facilities like coffee shop, free Wi-Fi and feeding room. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation plans to install them at 150 more locations.
