Transfers after schools re-opened resulted error in 5000 schools

Hyderabad, July 14: Most of the teachers shifted to comfortable places due to which more than 5,000 government schools are left without a single teacher, education experts alleged.

According to teachers associations, transfers should be done during the summer vacation but it was taken up after the schools re-opened. The delay in transfers and recruitment is undergoing a lot of condemnation.

Mr. N. Narayana, an education expert, said:

"Due to the transfers, many government schools in rural areas are facing a shortage of teachers. The transfers should be done in summer vacation but it was taken up after the schools reopened.

That was an oversight. Students of governments schools are suffering as no classes have been conducted due to the shortage of teachers."

Questioning the government for taking up the transfers after the schools began, Mr. Gouri Satish, convenor, KG to PG Education Joint Action Committee said, "Due to the transfers, teachers cannot focus in the classrooms.”

The General Secretary of Telangana United Teachers Federation said teacher unions had demanded transfers during the vacations. "Many students are facing trouble due to the shortage of teachers for the last 40 days."

Asked about the problems of schools, who recently took over the director and commissioner of school education, said, "Telangana is the 1st state to conduct transfers via web counselling. The transfer process was conducted in just 40 days, which is immensely swift given that the software was new."
