Telangana: Delay in state civil exam irks students

Hyderabad, July 13: The Telangana government has been sitting on the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) notifications for 3 years now much to the frustration of candidates.

Providing government jobs was a key election promise of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Now, the lakhs of candidates who had faith in the TRS's promise and sat for the examination feel cheated. Delay in Telangana state's civil exam irks students.

A video in which an antagonized female candidate from Telangana is seen questioning the state government about sitting on the TSPSC notifications has gone viral on social media.

The woman is sighted questioning and shouting her frustrations out in the video as she has been waiting for a few years to get the results of the TSPSC examinations in which she appeared.

She says, "It takes only 6 months to prepare for the examination but it is taking years to announce the results of the TSPSC notifications which is not correct at all."

"Has any government in the country delayed the public service commission results this late?"

"We have waited for the formation of the new state and now we are waiting for the results of posts notified by the commission. We are not able to even join private jobs with the hope of securing a job in TSPSC."

The chairman of the Telangana Unemployed Joint Action Committee, said, "TSPSC gave 165 notifications since the formation of Telangana state for 35,000 jobs among which only 12,800 aspirants got placed. About 323 notifications are pending because of court cases. The results for Gurukala examinations, Group-1 and Group-II are pending since last three years."

Srinu Namani, a 32-year-old candidate said:

"After the Group-II examinations held in November 2016, some candidates who had used whitener for double bubbling had filed a petition in the court saying the answers which were corrected with whitener must also be taken as valid. The court directed Telangana State Public Service Commission on April 24, 2017 that the candidates who used whitener for double bubbling will not be considered to qualify for the examinations."

He said that later, on June 12, 2017, the court put a stay on the order due to which the issue is in court.

"We are facing a lot of trouble due to the delay as the notification came in 2015 and the exams were conducted in June 2016 but to date we are waiting for the results. I started the preparations at the age of 28 but I am still waiting for the results."

A senior official said:

"We are waiting for the approval of the Centre to announce the Group-1 results as the state government has asked the Centre to resolve the issue. We have conducted the Group-II exams but many candidates have gone to court after the exam due to which the results are still pending."
