Why was it removed from youtube?

Chennai, July 08: In Last year, the whole country was going gaga over the Malayalam hit song 'Jimikki Kammal'. The witty folk song is part of Mohanlal's film Velipadinte Pusthakam, directed by Lal Jose. The Video song has witnessed immnese craze all over the world.

It is known that The official video of the song had taken the internet by storm and garnered around 80 million views on YouTube. But now, it has been taken down from the site due to copyright issue.

The copyright of the song is currently with a television channel. However, the song was uploaded online by another private company. Recently, the channel filed a complaint against the illegal upload resulting in the removal of the hit video from the video-sharing website.

Many pirated versions of the video are still available online, but it looks like they will also be taken down eventually.

This has not gone down well with the composer of the song, Shaan Rahman, who in a long Facebook post expressed his disappointment over the removal of the video.

He said that Dear friends, everyone has been asking me to comment on the disappearance of the video of 'Jimmiki Kammal'. It was close to 80 million views or may be above. Not sure. by now you've all must have understood that it was taken down because of a copyright issue. The channel who bought the rights of the movie tool it down. So here's my statement.

Jimmikki Kammal, If it was still there right now, would've been the highest viewed Malayalam song or video in the history of Mayalayam Cinema or Malayalam entertainment, And if people who sold it/bought it and who are part of the same industry, saw its a part of the business deal to take down the song which had received worldwide love and appreciation, they might as well let it happens it wasn't about numbers anyway.
