Ravi Shanker Prasad about one nation-one election

New Delhi, July 04: Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that "The elections will be held simultaneously for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.

"There is a compelling case for taking a pragmatic view on simultaneous polls. The government is waiting for the recommendations of the law commission."

The law commission decided to start discussions with political stake holders after it had received wide ranging suggestions and observations from the general public following an invite by the commission.

Ravi Shankar Prasad said the 70-year-old democracy needs to be stabilized in the electoral process. Let's wait for the Justice Commission recommendations.

The Judicial Commission will hold consultations with political parties on July 7,8. In april the Justice Commission stated that two jurisdictions for the Parliament and the Legislative Assembly should be held in two phases.
