Telangana: This is the biggest achievement!!

Kothagudem, Jul 01: In a major achievement, The Power Production in the seventh phase of 800 MW Capacity KTPS (Kothagudem Thermal Power Station) began on Saturday night.

With this, the total availability of power in Telangana has crossed 16,000 MW. The project has created a record of sorts as the one that was completed on a fast track and in a record time.

TRANSCO and GENCO Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao formally launched the power production in Paloncha of Kothagudem district and synchronized to the power grid in the presence of BHEL Executive Director Mukhopadhyay, General Manager Srinivasa Rao, GENCO Directors Venkat Rajam and Sachadanandam.

The Seventh phase 800 MW plant of KTPS will remain in the history of Telangana as the one which was commenced and completed totally after the formation of Telangana.

The construction of the plant with an estimated cost of Rs 5700 Crore commenced on February 1, 2015. This is the first plant for which the foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Since this was completed within the stipulated time, the power that would be purchased from KTPS seventh phase will not attract IDC load.

Due to this, the power that is supplied from here will cost less and this would result in Rs 300 Crores financial benefit.

He said it is a proud moment that in a record time the GENCO could complete the 800 MW plant and added that with the same spirit the Bhadradri and Yadadri plants will be completed.

The Chief Minister congratulated on the completion of the KTPS plant in a record time.

Mr Chandrashekar Rao also congratulated Mr Prabhakar Rao and other staff of GENCO for working hard to achieve targets and make Telangana a power surplus state.
