TDP MP CM Ramesh breaks his indefinite hunger strike

Kadapa, June 30: The Andhra Pradesh ruling party TDP MP CM Ramesh has broken his fast after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met him in Kadapa.

MP CM Ramesh was on an indefinite strike for the last ten days demanding a steel plant in Kadapa as part of the AP Reorganisation Act.

On June 13, the Centre, citing the Steel Authority of India's feasibility report, told the Supreme Court that it was not "financially viable" to construct the steel plant in the economically-backward region.

Earlier this week, Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh had spoken to Ramesh over the phone and had urged him to end his fast.

TDP chief and CM Babu also visited the fasting MP to express his solidarity.

The Yellow party has alleged that the Bhartiya Janta Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are stalling the setting up of the plant which was promised to the state at the time of bifurcation of the state and in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.
