Karnataka Politics: Actress-turns-Minister; first time in the history of state

Bengaluru, June 09: Haradanahalli Devegowda Kumaraswamy is the 20th Chief Minister of Karnataka state. He is Preceded by B. S. Yeddyurappa (from BJP). But, Kumaraswamy belongs to Janata Dal (Secular) political party.
Actress-turned-Politician Jayamala has joined the Karnataka Cabinet headed by Chief Minister HD Kumara Swamy.
The 62-years-old actress has been offered a 'Woman and Child Development Ministry' in Karnataka Cabinet. This happened for the first time in the history of Karnataka that the actor became a Minister.
She acted in many films in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu languages in the lead role. However, she has done her item number with Megastar Chiranjeevi in Rakshasudu film.
