National News: Modi wants Advani to contest

New Delhi, June 05: After the Karnataka Elections and By Poll elections the Bharatiya Janata Party has faced huge blow for the party strength.

From this perspective, BJP Legends, Narendra Modi, and Amit Shah reportedly want Bharatiya Janata Party patriarch LK Advani to contest upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

As per reports, party's other veteran leader like Murli Manohar Joshi might also be nominated for the forthcoming polls.

While Going to details, BJP chief Amit Shah along with PM Modi met the nonagenarian leader at his home at Prithviraj Road in National Capital and presented the proposal.

Notably, the reported proposal came when the Opposition parties have decided to come together to oust the ruling party.

Earlier in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Advani contested from Gujarat's Gandhinagar. He and MM Joshi were not included in BJP's highest decision-making body — the Parliamentary Board.

The recent developments with the BJP coincide with some allies leaving the NDA ahead of the elections (TDP) and some others asserting themselves for a larger say in running the government and seat sharing.

Both Shiv Sena and JD(U) in Bihar have made their discomfort clear in the last one month.

The change in BJP's position on veteran leaders is being seen as a move giving weight to winnability of the candidates than their age.
