Singapore, June 03: An orchid was named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark his visit to the National Orchid Garden of Singapore on Saturday.

Dendrobrium Narendra Modi has been named as a flowering plant for the occasion, Foreign Secretary Ramesh Kumar tweeted.

"A strong and robust tropical orchid which produces upright inflorescences up to 38 cm long with 14-20 well-arranged flowers," he said.

Prime Minister Modi has completed his three-day Singapore tour and departed for repatriation. Earlier he visited the shrines of three major religions in Singapore.

The prime minister visited Singapore's oldest Hindu temple Sri Mariamman and participated in prayers.

The mosque was constructed in 1826 by Muslim traders from the Koramandal coastal area of India. Later he visited the Buddhist Temple and the museum. During his visit to the Indian Heritage Center in Singapore, Prime Minister Modi bought a Madhubani painting with a rupay card.
