Leave it and choose another: Nitin Gadkari

Pune, June 02: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has made sensational comments on the issue while motorists are facing protests over petrol prices across the country.

Talking to the media in Pune, he said that the prices are likely to rise, again and again, reminding them that prices are falling slowly. He said the fuel price issue is a long-term problem and the government is working to find solutions.

He said that if the 'petro' products were brought back to the subsidy, the funds would be reduced to welfare schemes. Nitin Gadkari said LPG connections to the poor amounted to Rs. 8 crores of the money saved on subsidy on petrol and diesel.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party - Congress - slammed the Modi government for fuel and LPG price hike.

"We have this great, generous, magnanimous government giving us one paisa a few days ago. Today, they have done five times better and six times better. I congratulate them. We are really overwhelmed," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
