New Delhi, June 01: The government has collected Rs 94,016 crore in the form of goods and services tax (GST) against an average mop up of nearly Rs 90,000 crore per month in FY 2017-18.

(GST) collections in the month of May stood below the Rs 1 lakh crore-mark in comparison with the figures released for the month of April. In May, the GST revenue collections came at Rs 94,016 crore, Ministry of Finance said in a notification.

* According to the latest data, the GST collection in May was Rs. 94,016 crore.

* After adjustment, the center under the CGST is Rs. 28,797 crores, Rs. 34,020 crores has been received.

* The number of returns filed by the month of April 31, 2012 is 62.47 lakh.

* The ministry also said that "on May 29, Rs 6,696 crore has been released to the states as GST compensation for March. Therefore, the total GST Compensation released to the states for the FY 2017-18 (July, 2017 to March, 2018) has been Rs 47,844 crore.

* Despite GST growth in May compared to April, it is higher than the average monthly average GST in the last financial year. Monthly average GST collection in the 2017-2018 financial year is Rs. 89,885 crore.
