Karnataka CM to announce decision on farm loan waiver

New Delhi, May 29: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy started work on the issue of farm loan waiver.

The farmers association and organizational activities will be held on Wednesday. This meeting will be held at Vidana Saudha at 11 am. The Chief Minister will discuss issues such as the problems faced by the farmers and loan woes, and the next action will be taken says JDS Sources.

"I will place all issues related to loan waiver before the people on Wednesday in Bengaluru," Kumaraswamy said in New Delhi.

His announcement comes shortly after his predecessor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader B.S. Yeddyurappa attacked the chief minister on the issue.

JD(S) had promised to waive off all farmer loans, including those taken from nationalized banks, within 24 hours of being sworn into power. However, the fractured mandate has changed the equation. The BJP won 104 seats, the Congress 78 and the JD(S)-combine 38, including one from its pre-poll ally, the Bahujan Samaj Party.

He also announced that he would resign from the post of CM if he did not waive the farmers' loan but would have to leave the politics permanently.
