Telangana's new policy for Electric Vehicles

Hyderabad, May 25: In a bid to boost Green initiative, the Telangana Government will bring e-mobility policy by June, next month.


The draft has already been prepared and various stakeholders have given their views on the issue, said Telangana Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan here on Wednesday.

The flexible policy to be launched next month that will cater to the dynamically evolving EV ecosystem in the market, he said the policy will be based on the framework of - the Faster adoption and manufacturing of (hybrid) and Electric vehicles in India-FAME India- provided by the Union Government.

Several people are willing to set up charging stations in the state, Ranjan said that the Hyderabad Metro Rail is also working to provide charging infrastructure along the stations.

A fixed amount will be set aside from the Budget an annual basis for promoting electric vehicles, the official aid the State is keen on creating a mobility innovation ecosystem here with help from startup incubator T-Hub.

T-Hub has agreed to include electric mobility in its agenda, he said Telangana will join select few States that have worked on a separate policy for e-vehicles.

As part of its commitment to provide eco-friendly green services, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited recently announced the provision of electric vehicle charging stations at Metro stations, along with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCI).
