Bank Unions calls 48 hrs strike

Hyderabad, May 24: In a shocking decision, Several bank employees' unions have called for a strike on May 30-31 (48 hours) which is likely to impact the banking services.

Having been pressing for several demands including wage revision in the wake of the proposal for a two percent hike in salary, the Bank Unions have called for a strike.

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBA) which includes various bank unions such as AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW, and NOBO has served a notice to go on a nationwide bank strike on May 30-31, 2018.

The Indian Banks Association's delay in resolving a charter of demands along with the government's attitude towards wage revision for bank employees are some of the issues raised.

UFBU has demanded an early wage revision settlement, improvement in other service conditions, wage revision settlement to include all officers up to scale VII and adequate increase in salary.

With all the nationalized banks being a part of one union or the other, the normal services of the branches and offices of the banks are also likely to get affected. Even the services in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also expected to have an impact.

UFBU AP and Telangana Chapter Convenor VVSR Sarma called for the support of the bank customers to make the strike successful.
