Raids on Ice Cream factories in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, May 23: The officials of the department of vigilance and enforcement and food safety conducted raids on the four ice cream manufacturers at Gollapudi, New Auto Nagar, and Maddhur village on the outskirts of Vijayawada on Tuesday.

The officials noticed Snow Walls ice cream manufacturers did not obtain the license from the labour department and the factories department.

According to Vijay Paul, the DSP of vigilance and enforcement department, the company also not maintaining the stock registers properly. He said weights in another company have no stamps of the department of legal metrology.

He said the officials of legal metrology will inspect the Cream Hill Factory on Wednesday for verification of weights. He said eight samples from four factories were collected by the department of food safety for the lab tests.

He said necessary action will be taken on the ice cream manufacturers after getting the report. Vigilance Superintendent of Police M Ravindranath and other officials participated in the raids. They inspected the hygienic conditions and quality of material used.
