TS Govt sanctions Two medical colleges

Hyderabad, May 23: In a major development, Telangana government has sanctioned two new medical colleges in Nalgonda and Suryapet here on Tuesday.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao signed on the file to this effect in response to proposals from Medical and Health department.

According to a press release issued by the chief minister's office, the two new medical colleges will be established in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts

"To this effect honorable chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao signed on the concerned file in response to proposals from medical and health department. 150 seats are allotted in each of those colleges. In addition, 150 admissions are going on in Siddipet medical college which has already been sanctioned," read the release.

Officials claim that the government will sanction Rs 500 crore to each college to build the infrastructure as per the Medical Council of India norms. "Of Rs 500 crore, Rs 450 crore are meant for capital expenditure and the rest of the amount is for human resources," said K Srinivas Rao, OSD to the health minister.
