Rajinikanth opens about Alliance

Chennai, May 20: Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth on Sunday said that the developments in Karnataka politics, where BJP's B S Yeddyurappa resigned from the chief ministerial position without facing a trust vote, was a victory for democracy.

"What happened in Karnataka yesterday (Saturday) was a win for democracy. BJP asking for some more time and Governor giving 15 days time was a mockery of democracy," the superstar said.

"I would like to thank Supreme Court for its order, which upheld the democracy.", he stressed.

Rajinikanth declined to comment on whether his party would strike an alliance with Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam.

"When I am yet to launch my political party, no purpose will be served in talking about prospective alliances," he said.
