Kumaraswamy to take oath as CM; who are invited for swearing-in ceremony

Bangalore, May 20: Ending the long-lived high-octane political drama in the Karnataka State, B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday resigned as the chief minister ahead of the floor test in the state assembly, as was directed by the Supreme Court on Friday.

Governor Valubhai Vala then called upon JD(S)' HD Kumaraswamy to form the government in alliance with the Congress party. The son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy will be sworn-in on Wednesday after he deferred his swearing in as Monday was Rajiv Gandhi's death anniversary.

Capping five days of riveting political and court-room drama, Yeddyurappa announced his decision to quit on the floor of the Assembly after a brief emotional speech rather than face a vote of confidence he was widely expected to lose

"The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Monday," Kumaraswamy told media after meeting Vala and staking claim.

H D Kumaraswamy added that his swearing-in ceremony to be attended by Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati, KCR, Chandrababu Naidu. As many as 2-3 lakh people are expected to be part of the ceremony.
