Yeddyurappa resigns as Karnataka CM

Bengaluru, May 19: The floor test in the Karnataka Assembly has begun at 4 pm today, as per the Supreme Court order on Friday.

Senior BJP MLA K.G. Bopaiah, was appointed as the Pro Tem Speaker by Governor Vajubhai Vala, will oversee the proceedings.

BS Yeddyurappa has resigned as Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa takes a dig and says that the Congress and JD(S) did not trust their own MLAs. They were kept away from their families, Yeddyurappa. I will work for the state whether in power or not.

"I will dedicate my life to Karnataka. In the 2019 polls we will win 28 out 28 seats in Karnataka. This is my assurance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My life have always been a challenge. At every juncture of my life I have faced an 'agni pariksha'", says Yeddyurappa.

"I have overcome all the hurdles to faced every challenge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi never discriminated with Karnataka despite the Congress being in power. We wanted to make Karnataka a model state by having the same governments in both Karnataka and the Centre" says Yeddyurappa.

BJP, with 104 seats, is seven short of the required number of 111. The Congress with 78 MLAs, the JD(S) with 36 and three others are also individually not in a position to form the government.
