YS Jagan accuses CM Naidu over Godavari Boat accident

West Godavari, May 16: The AP opposition leader and YSR Congress party Chief YS Jagan has slammed Chandrababu Naidu government to task for the Tuesday's tragic boat accident near Devipatnam in East Godavari district.

YS Jagan described the deaths of girijans in the boat tragedy as nothing but murders committed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his inefficient government.

"Naidu government has miserably failed to ensure security and safety of passengers travelling boats and ferries. The chief minister and his cabinet colleagues should be held responsible for the accident," Jagan said, speaking to media at Rama Rao Gudem in West Godavari district.

Pointing out that three major mishaps had occurred in a span of six months in Krishna and Godavari rivers, the YSRC president said none of the boats and ferries operating in the two rivers had fitness.

"This is mainly because the boat operators heavily bribe the officials in which Naidu and his son Lokesh had a share. That is why they are keeping blind to the illegal operation of boats resulting in accidents," he said.

Jagan said the government had not taken any action against those responsible for the Krishna river boat tragedy in which 21 people died early this year.
