Cricket Betting racket busted, huge amount seized

Hyderabad, May 14: In major tip-off, The Hyderabad city police have busted a cricket betting racket by arresting four people and seizing net cash of Rs 10,44,010, apart from six cell phones from the accused.

The Shahinayathgunj Police conducted raid on a house, situated in Begum Bazaar and arrested Durgesh Yadav (32) of Begum Bazaar, Sunil Tiwari (31) of Kishanbagh, Milan Kothari (38) of Kachiguda, Devesh Kothari (42) of Kachiguda, when they were accepting cricket betting from Punters on the ongoing IPL cricket matches over cell phones, police said.

On enquiry, Durgesh revealed that he was working under one Sunil Tiwari, a Cricket Bookie, for collecting the betting amounts and also arranging the premises for the betting.

However, Pavannding and Prem Singh managed to flee from the spot.

The arrested accused were produced before the court for Judicial Remand, police added.
