AP Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya gets engaged to an Industrialist

Hyderabad, May 13: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya got engaged to an industrialist at her residence in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Media reports suggest that her marriage will take place on August 29.

The engagement ceremony was held in a very simple manner with a few guests and family members present at the event. Kurnool MLA SV Mohan Reddy, who is Akhila's uncle and Nandyal MLA Brahmananda Reddy, her cousin, were also present.

While Akhila is a known face in Andhra politics, her fiancee, Bhargav, is an industrialist.

Bhargav was reported to be a relative of Akhila's colleague and Andhra Municipal Minister P Narayana.

In 2010, Akhila Priya had married the son of YS Jaganmohan Reddy's maternal uncle and former Kadapa mayor Ravindranath Reddy. However, the couple had decided to mutually part ways and filed for a divorce in a year.

Bhargav is also reported to be a divorcee and had earlier married the daughter of former Andhra DGP Sambasiva Rao.

Akhila Priya shot into politics following the sudden demise of her mother Bhuma Shoba Nagireddy in a road accident. Akhila hails from the politically significant Bhuma family of Kurnool and won the MLA seat from Allagadda in 2014, succeeding her mother.

Subsequently, Akhila Priya became the youngest minister in Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet, and proved her political weight after she ensured that her cousin won the Nandyal bye-elections.
